We do not offer training while your dog is
boarding, because we believe it is
essential that you meet with the trainer to learn the techniques.

Behavior modification is available in your home

Cockrell. Contact George directly for this service at 301-253-5001. |
Ana’s Ark is truly lucky to have sessions that are led by the renowned trainer,
George Cockrell of Companion Dog Training. George has been training dogs for
over 30 years in classes, seminars, and through private lessons. George
assisted in setting policies and curriculum for PetSmart’s dog training
program, and is often consulted by other trainers. As the mid-Atlantic regional
director of the International Association of Canine Professionals, George was
responsible for training and recruitment of other group members.
George says that a good trainer “has many tools in his training toolbox”, and
his include aggression training of wolf hybrids (including his own pet),
electronic collars, and most of all a fun, family-inclusive approach. George
teaches by example, explains the theory behind his exercises, then makes sure
you can execute the commands and tricks on your own.
We have been through George Cockrell's
Basic Training course three times - once with our dog Zina (a blind German
Shepherd-Lab mix) and twice with Buzz (another German Shepheard mix). Both
dogs are much more attentive, respond to commands well, and have become better
integrated into our home and family. Now that we and our dogs have a firm grasp
of the basics, we are eager to build our skills, and that's what the Advanced
class is designed to do. George only offers an Advanced class a few times a
year, so if your dog has "graduated" at the Basic level, we urge you to
consider joining the next Advanced class!
